DIY WOODWORKING

Not sure of the true origins of this hobby but over the last couple of years I’m finding myself getting more and more involved in it. Maybe some aspects of woodworking mirror those of the field I am in: design, plan, learn, and build. Below is a brief overview of my last completed project.

January 2019 project is complete. Have a look at the process especially the before image of the multi-purpose pool table.

Was time for a change. This pool table came with the house and started to become a dumping ground for all odds and ends in the kids basement.

First time using a dowel jig. Really helps keep the holes aligned and this jig clamps it all down as you drill.

A whole separate project just making sure the ping pong table is propped up and level. Mid section includes housing for an led strip to reflect off of the glass net.

Could have gone with the old-school net and called it a day.

A bad cut on the walnut left me trying to figure out how to make the most of it. By adjusting some measurements I was able to add on just enough for the end trim.

This was a unique piece that helped bring it all together. The walnut block keeps both sides of the table locked in and provides support for the glass net.

VINYL COLLECTION

Confession. I didn’t always collect vinyl. Am I one of those who have fallen prey to the spinning wax trend? Well, kinda. Going back to 2012-13 when I started buying vinyl lots off of ebay , it took me back to my teen years of actually buying music, and spending countless hours inspecting all the words and graphics that came along with it. I had simply missed it. So here I was, building a new collection, discovering new music, and revisiting the albums I grew up on. Does it sound better? I’m not an audiophile. I grew up on cassettes, and mix tapes, so as long as it plays through the song without a sudden speed up and the doomed crackle sound, I’m good. I just appreciate the work that goes into it. Feel free to browse and poke fun below.
